NEW CITY, NY – Today SOOP, developer of the restaurant industry’s first text-based takeout ordering and payments solution, announced the availability of its new mobile ordering platform on October 15, 2019. Designed to support two key industry trends – the texting bias of Millennial and younger consumers as well as their growing preference for takeout and delivery – SOOP offers small restaurants a simple path to text-based ordering without the upfront technology costs and transaction fees associated with today’s web-based online ordering and payment solutions.
The brainchild of former pcAmerica president and entrepreneur Richard Rotbard and partners Scott Saltiel and Nish Kamboj, SOOP satisfies an unmet need in the restaurant online ordering space—namely a fast, low-cost and seamless way to support text-based food ordering. Online ordering apps such as Grubhub, Door Dash and Uber Eats can charge restaurants as much as 25% to 30% of each transaction and cloud-based POS online ordering applications are expensive to set up. High cost of entry has made online ordering a non-starter for smaller restaurants looking to grow takeout and delivery revenue.
Digital ordering and delivery have grown 300% faster than dine-in traffic since 2014. According to the National Restaurant Association, three in five U.S. consumers order delivery or takeout at least once a week. “Young people are the biggest takeout consumers and they demand the speed and convenience of texting. Restaurants have to adapt to them ─ that’s why text-based ordering is the future for restaurants,” noted Rotbard. “The SOOP business model makes text-based ordering a profit center for both resellers and their customers.”
Any restaurant who offers takeout or delivery can work with SOOP, including those with no web presence or POS system. Customers simply place an order via their favorite device, using text or conversation. Using built-in AI capabilities, SOOP sends the order to the restaurant’s tablet or PC, where it’s queued for review by staff. Once accepted, the customer receives a confirming text with order details and cost, SOOP charges the transaction to the customer’s credit card and issues payment to the restaurant. By eliminating phone-in orders, restaurants can optimize staff, improve order accuracy and manage orders more efficiently during peak times ─ with no upfront costs, a monthly fee of $99 and a minimal processing fee similar to a credit card transaction.
Risk-Free Reseller Revenue
Ideal for POS resellers who don’t support online ordering, SOOP can also drive revenue for those seeking a text-based option to complement existing web-based POS ordering solutions. To support SOOP, restaurants require only a tablet or PC which can be purchased directly from SOOP. To activate a restaurant subscription, resellers fill out a simple form available on their SOOP portal.
Upon each restaurant signup, SOOP will automatically issue a reseller bonus of $297 (or the first three months of SOOP service). In addition, resellers will receive a monthly residual of 10% of the monthly fee and a percentage of each restaurant’s transaction fees and hardware sales. By signing up 50 restaurant customers per year, resellers can expect annual SOOP revenue of $30,000 or more, with no sales tax or receivables and no resource burden beyond current POS staffing levels.
Growth Strategy
SOOP is currently adding AI functionality to support menu integration with participating restaurants and integration to cloud-based POS systems. The company’s “reseller first” model ensures growth through established POS providers.
Availability
The SOOP platform will be available for restaurant subscriptions on October 15, 2019. For more information on the SOOP platform or how to become a SOOP reseller, contact info@justsoopit.com or call 888.605.SOOP.
