TAMPA, FL “ Sterling Payment Technologies, a national payment processing and solutions provider, announced that William (Bill) Pittman has joined Sterling as executive director of technical integrations.
Mr. Pittman has more than two decades of experience in payment integrations, both as an executive and a software entrepreneur.
His first start-up company, GO Software, developed a PC-based payment processing software product called PCCharge. Mr. Pittman sold GO Software in 1999. PCCharge grew to become the industry standard for PC-based processing and was recently sold by Verifone. Mr. Pittman’s second company, TPI Software, developed a payment gateway software product called Smart Payments Server, still in use by many of the industry’s leading payment processors and ISOs. TPI Software was acquired by Hypercom Corp. in 2006.
Prior to joining Sterling, Mr. Pittman was executive vice president of technical services at PowaPOS, where he ran the global technical services group. His executive experience also includes serving as senior vice president of product strategy for Ingenico’s ROAM Data, and as senior manager of product management at Amazon, responsible for the company’s internal and external global payment platform products.
At Sterling, Mr. Pittman will serve as a technical advocate for integrated software vendors (ISVs) and POS resellers by providing solution requirements such as system architecture, addressing best practices for transaction security, and developing documentation and educational programs for ISVs and POS resellers.

Mr. Pittman holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of South Florida and an MBA in Business from Georgia Southern University.
