Shift4 is the standard for payment processing and services for the POS ecosystem. We empower independent software vendors (ISVs) to adopt emerging payment initiatives and security technologies quickly, freeing up their development resources to focus on other business objectives.

What are the core values of your company?
Shift4 is passionate about secure and compliant payments. We’ve dedicated more than 20 years to inventing and perfecting technologies that have helped shape the payments industry. We have a uniquely independent perspective that allows us to be straightforward and honest with our merchants and partners, which is an invaluable resource to have.

Name one fun fact that makes your company different from others.
Our roots were in accounting software, and we provided the first integrated electronic payments to a fine dining restaurant in Beverly Hills, CA. This solution was the foundation for DOLLARS ON THE NET today.

How do you currently support the channel/what services do you provide to the channel?
With more than 100 unique POS/PMS integrations, our partners can quickly leverage a semi-integrated approach to provide a secure foundation for emerging technologies and alternative payment methods for their merchants. Our Universal Transaction Gateway (UTG) removes the need for ISVs to independently work their way through lengthy, complicated, and expensive certification processes. The added combination of TrueTokenization, Shift4’s PCI-validated P2PE solution, True P2PE, and EMV makes Shift4’s gateway and payment services the most secure solution today.

What is the most encouraging thing you see for the future of the point of sale technology industry?
We are excited to see this industry move toward an omnichannel and unified commerce approach that enhances the point-of-purchase experience for consumers. This allows merchants to expand their business footprint without compromising security. We’re here to support this for the retail POS ecosystem, just as we have done for many in the hospitality industry for years.
